Klarvatten is Swedish for "clear water". The neighbourhood began to first experience residential construction in the late 1980s, but over 50% of residential construction took place in the 2000s.

One of the major features of the neighbourhood is a large storm water lake and wetland-Poplar lake located in the east-central part. The storm water lake provides residents with access to an attractive outdoor amenity and provides some recreation space within the community.
