The name Schonsee is derived from the German word "schon", meaning beautiful, and "see" meaning lake. The plan for the neighbourhood is to develop a primarily residential community with a variety of housing options.
The projected population is over 3,000 residents, and a student generation of just under 400 school-aged children. A 1. 8 hectare park is located north of the storm water lake, and a smaller hectare park is located on the northeast shore of the lake.
