Named for an early pioneer farmer who operated a grocery store here in the 1880s and 90s, Kernohan was not annexed until 1961. Part of Clareview, it saw the bulk of its development take place during the 1960s oil-driven economic boom.
Kernohan is bounded by Kennedale Ravine and the river valley, both popular features with the area's high proportion of young families. Civic ward: Dene. District: Northeast. City boundary records effective 1981-10-01.
